Every fenced site carries hundreds of square metres of blank surface at exactly eye height, facing exactly the people who walk and drive past every day. Most projects leave it empty. The ones that do not get branding, wayfinding and statutory signage for the cost of printed mesh.

What banner mesh does

Custom banner mesh is printed material fixed to the fence line. On a construction site it typically carries some mix of:

  • Project branding: builder, developer, project name, completion story
  • Sales messaging: for residential projects, the display suite is often behind the fence the buyers walk past
  • Statutory signage: site contact, permit information, mandatory PPE notices, after hours numbers
  • Wayfinding: gate identification, delivery instructions, pedestrian detour guidance
  • Screening: even an unprinted run blocks sightlines, contains dust and tidies the site's public face

At events the same material becomes sponsor visibility, entry conditions and queue guidance, which is covered in more detail in our event planning guide.

Formats

The 50m roll suits long continuous runs where one design repeats. Single panels suit gate signage, statutory boards and any location where the message differs from the run around it. Most projects use both: rolls for the frontage, panels for the functional signage.

Printing is handled through our custom banner printing service, from your artwork.

Design rules that survive contact with a fence

Mesh on a fence is read at walking or driving speed, through a surface that moves slightly, often from an angle. Design accordingly:

  1. One message per sightline. A passing driver gets one glance. Project name and one line beats a paragraph every time.
  2. Big type, high contrast. If it cannot be read at 30 metres, it is decoration.
  3. Logos and critical text away from panel edges, where fixings and tensioning live.
  4. Repeat rather than enlarge. A message repeated every few panels reads better than one enormous version around a corner nobody stands at.
  5. Design for the join. On long runs the artwork meets itself; patterns and repeated marks handle joins better than single sweeping images.

The wind load conversation, again

Banner mesh converts an open fence into a partially solid surface, and every square metre of print is a square metre of sail. This is the single most important operational fact about fence signage.

A run carrying banner mesh needs bracing and ballast specified for that load. Corners, exposed frontages and long straights need particular attention, and the requirement belongs in the original order rather than the post storm one. The physics is covered further in the temporary fencing FAQ.

Common uses beyond construction

  • Events: sponsor runs, entry signage and screening for festival perimeters
  • Sporting clubs: season long sponsor banners on ground fencing
  • Councils: project communication around civic works
  • Schools: screening and messaging during term time works, where sightline control is also a safeguarding matter

Getting banners produced

Send through the artwork requirements and the run length, and printing and delivery are coordinated with the fencing itself. Request a quote or get in touch, or start with the custom banner printing service page.
